{"id":724,"date":"2012-04-06T05:05:29","date_gmt":"2012-04-06T12:05:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.teach4god.com\/OTS\/?p=724"},"modified":"2014-04-02T05:23:59","modified_gmt":"2014-04-02T12:23:59","slug":"psalm-23","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/teach4god.com\/OTS\/2012\/04\/06\/psalm-23\/","title":{"rendered":"Psalm 23"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Psalm%2023&amp;version=NASB\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS; color: #0000ff;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS; color: #0000ff;\">Psalm 23<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The key to this psalm is the first verse and is found in the pronoun &#8220;my.&#8221; If this is not true of you, then this psalm is not a psalm that you can cling to for it is only for those who call to God as Savior, Shepherd.<\/p>\n<p>For all the beauty and splendor of this psalm, it is a psalm reminding us that God meets our needs (cf. <span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Philippians%204.19&amp;version=NASB\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS; color: #0000ff;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS; color: #0000ff;\">Philippians 4.19<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS;\"> and <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Psalm%2037.25&amp;version=NASB\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS; color: #0000ff;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS; color: #0000ff;\">Psalm 37.25<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">). These would include meeting the needs of our entire being. He meets my safety and physical needs as-well-as my need for belonging, love, and meaning. He guides me (2-3), He protects me (4), He is with me (4), His loving-kindness is known to me (6), and He gives me victory (5) with purpose (6). The one thing that is not given me that I have to choose is to serve others the same way He has served me <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Mark%2010.43-45&amp;version=NASB\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS; color: #0000ff;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS; color: #0000ff;\">(Mark 10.43-45<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The question to answer is this: Whom am I shepherding toward Christ today?<\/p>\n<p>Many authors have poured over these verses and waxed eloquently (i.e., Max Lucado <em>Traveling Light<\/em> or Philip Keller <em>A Shepherds Look at Psalm 23)<\/em>.
