{"id":658,"date":"2012-03-26T04:42:11","date_gmt":"2012-03-26T11:42:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.teach4god.com\/OTS\/?p=658"},"modified":"2014-04-02T05:22:13","modified_gmt":"2014-04-02T12:22:13","slug":"psalm-106","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/teach4god.com\/OTS\/2012\/03\/26\/psalm-106\/","title":{"rendered":"Psalm 106"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Psalm%20106&amp;version=NASB\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS; color: #0000ff;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS; color: #0000ff;\">Psalm 106<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is considered the first of the Hallelujah Psalms because it begins and ends with hallelujah (\u05d4\u05dc\u05dc\u05d9\u05d4<span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">)<span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">, which is &#8220;Praise the Lord.&#8221;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The key to this passage and the other <span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/teach4god.com\/OTS\/2012\/02\/11\/introduction-to-the-psalms\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS; color: #0000ff;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS; color: #0000ff;\">historical psalms<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS;\"> is to remember. In Psalm 105, remember because of the great things God has done; in Psalm 106, it is remembering that bad things we have done and turn from them. This psalm is a rehearsal of those things Israel did in rebellion to the good things God had done for them. Before we start pointing the finger, we need to remember that we do the same today. Think of God\u2019s grace and forgiveness; then, ponder the things that we have done that abuse that grace and forgiveness. Paul summed it up in <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Romans%206&amp;version=NASB\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS; color: #0000ff;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS; color: #0000ff;\">Romans 6<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS;\"> with an emphasis on our not sinning because of God\u2019s grace.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Verses 1-3-The psalmist begins with praise and will end with praise as-well. He is calling us to observe what we have done and to pursue justice instead.<\/p>\n<p>Verses 4-5-These verses are likened to <span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Luke%2023.42&amp;version=NASB\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS; color: #0000ff;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS; color: #0000ff;\">Luke 23.42<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS;\"> where the repentant thief asks Jesus to remember him when He enters His kingdom.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Now we arrive at the reason for the repentance and petition.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/teach4god.com\/OTS\/tag\/remember\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS; color: #0000ff;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS; color: #0000ff;\">Remember<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Verse 6-He wants us to remember that we are as capable of committing these sins as those who actually committed them.<\/li>\n<li>Verses 7-12-Red Sea Rebellion (<span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Exodus%2014&amp;version=NASB\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS; color: #0000ff;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS; color: #0000ff;\">Exodus 14<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">)<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li>Verses 13-15-Complaints in the Desert (<span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Numbers%2011&amp;version=NASB\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS; Whatever our lot in life, we need to remember to praise the Lord.<\/p>\n<p>In each case of the remembering, Moses or another leader pleads on behalf of the people for God to forgive them. They stand in the gap for those who have rebelled (<span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Ezekiel%2022.30&amp;version=NASB\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS; color: #0000ff;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS; color: #0000ff;\">Ezekiel 22.30<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">).
