After this, each tribe is presented with portions of their genealogies. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/teach4god.com\/OTS\/2012\/03\/13\/1-chronicles-4\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS; color: #0000ff;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS; color: #0000ff;\">Chapter 4<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS;\"> presents Judah and Simeon, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/teach4god.com\/OTS\/2012\/03\/14\/1-chronicles-5\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS; color: #0000ff;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS; color: #0000ff;\">chapter 5<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS;\"> we looked at Reuben, Gad, and Manasseh, and chapter 6, our current study, presents the tribe of Levi.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>This genealogy and chapter can be divided as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The High Priestly Line-6.1\u201315<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These verses present the priests of the tribe. This listing of chief or high priests starts at Levi and ends with Jehozadak\u00a0who is led captive into Babylon. He becomes the father of Joshua (<span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Haggai%201.1&amp;version=NASB\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS; color: #0000ff;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS; color: #0000ff;\">Haggai 1.1<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">), the High Priest of <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=Zechariah%203&amp;version=NASB\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS; color: #0000ff;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS; color: #0000ff;\">Zechariah 3<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Levitical Line-6.16\u201330<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>One name should stand out for those who follow these posts and that is Kohath. He is the ancestor of the <span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/teach4god.com\/OTS\/2012\/02\/11\/introduction-to-the-psalms\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS; color: #0000ff;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS; color: #0000ff;\">Korahites<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS;\">. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Musicians\u2019 Guild-6.31\u201348<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>David had appointed some 4,000 singers and musicians during his reign.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Generations of Aaron-6.49\u201353<\/li>\n<li>Cities of the Priests and Levites-6.54\u201381<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Remember the Levites did not receive an inheritance among the nations of land. They did, however, receive cities and offerings. There were cities throughout Israel given to the Levites some of which were <span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS; color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"font-family: 'Trebuchet MS';\" href=\"https:\/\/teach4god.com\/OTS\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Cities-of-Refuge.jpeg\">Cities of Refuge<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span><span style=\"font-family: Trebuchet MS; color: #0000ff;\">\u00a0 (<\/span><\/span><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/teach4god.com\/OTS\/category\/miscellaneous\/bibliography-of-works-used-non-internet\/\" target=\"_blank\">Wilkinson, B., &amp; Boa, K., 1983<\/a><span style=\"font-family: 'Trebuchet MS';\">).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Cities of Refuge<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Six cities of refuge were designed\u00a0throughout Israel in Old Testament times to provide\u00a0a haven for people who killed other persons by accident. Protection like this was necessary because of the &#8220;avenger of blood,&#8221; the relative who considered it his duty to slay the killer. Eligibility for refuge was determined\u00a0by a judge. For convenience, three of the cities were located on either side of the Jordan River.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bezer: Located in the wilderness plateau of Moab, Bezer was a walled city within the territory of Reuben (Deut. 4:43).<\/li>\n<li>Golan: Located in the area known as Bashan, Golan was 17 miles east of the Sea of Galilee. This general area today is often called the Golan Heights (Deut. 4:43).<\/li>\n<li>Hebron: The southernmost of the six cities, Hebron was 20 miles south of Jerusalem. It was also known as Kirjath\u00a0Arba (Josh. 20:7).<\/li>\n<li>Kedesh: Also known as Kedesh\u00a0Naphtali, this city was located\u00a0in Galilee in the mountains of Naphtali (Josh. 20:7).<\/li>\n<li>Ramoth: Also known as Ramoth\u00a0Gilead, Ramoth\u00a0was an important walled city in the territory of Gad. It was located about 25 miles east of the Jordan River near the border of Syria (Deut. 4:43).<\/li>\n<li>Shechem: Located in the mountains of Ephraim, this is the city where the Lord appeared to Abraham with the promise, &#8220;To your descendants I will give this land&#8221; (Gen. 12:6, 7). \u00a0<span style=\"font-family: 'Trebuchet MS';\">(<a href=\"https:\/\/teach4god.com\/OTS\/category\/miscellaneous\/bibliography-of-works-used-non-internet\/\" target=\"_blank\">Thomas Nelson Publishers.
