{"id":1696,"date":"2012-12-25T07:57:10","date_gmt":"2012-12-25T15:57:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.teach4god.com\/OTS\/?p=1696"},"modified":"2014-02-09T08:42:03","modified_gmt":"2014-02-09T16:42:03","slug":"2-chronicles-13-16","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/teach4god.com\/OTS\/2012\/12\/25\/2-chronicles-13-16\/","title":{"rendered":"2 Chronicles 13-16"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Just a question based on one of the passages from these four chapters:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<ol>\n<li>Now the\u00a0Spirit of God came on Azariah\u00a0the son of Oded,<\/li>\n<li>and he went out to\u00a0meet Asa and said to him, \u201cListen to me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin: the\u00a0LORD is with you when you are with Him. And\u00a0if you seek Him, He will let you find Him; but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you.<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;For many days Israel was without the true God and without ba teaching priest and without law.<\/li>\n<li>\u201cBut ain their distress they turned to the LORD God of Israel, and they sought Him, and He let them find Him.<\/li>\n<li>\u201cIn those times there was no peace to him who went out or to him who came in, for many disturbances afflicted all the inhabitants of the lands.<\/li>\n<li>\u201cNation was crushed by nation, and city by city, for God troubled them with every kind of distress.<\/li>\n<li>\u201cBut you, be strong and do not lose courage, for there is reward for your work.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>If the foundation of\u00a0God&#8217;s reward is based on our proximity to Him, what can our expectation for America be in 2013?<\/p>\n<p>If we read the remainder\u00a0of chapter 15, we see what Asa did in order to\u00a0ensure the Lord&#8217;s reward would continue upon the land.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>8.\u00a0 Now when Asa heard these words and the prophecy which Azariah\u00a0the son of Oded the prophet spoke, he took courage and removed the abominable idols from all the land of Judah and Benjamin and from the cities which he had captured in the hill country of Ephraim. He then restored the altar of the LORD which was in front of the porch of the LORD.<\/p>\n<p>9.\u00a0 He gathered all Judah and Benjamin and those from Ephraim, Manasseh and Simeon who resided with them, for many defected to him from Israel when they saw that the LORD his God was with him.<\/p>\n<p>10.\u00a0 So they assembled at Jerusalem in the third month of the fifteenth year of Asa\u2019s reign.<\/p>\n<p>11.\u00a0 They sacrificed to the LORD that day 700 oxen and 7,000 sheep from the spoil they had brought.<\/p>\n<p>12,\u00a0 They entered into the covenant to seek the LORD God of their fathers with all their heart and soul;<\/p>\n<p>13.\u00a0 and whoever would not seek the LORD God of Israel should be put to death, whether small or great, man or woman.<\/p>\n<p>14.\u00a0 Moreover, they made an oath to the LORD with a loud voice, with shouting, with trumpets and with horns.<\/p>\n<p>15.\u00a0 All Judah rejoiced concerning\u00a0the oath, for they had sworn with their whole heart and had sought Him 1earnestly, and He let them find Him. So the LORD gave them rest on every side.<\/p>\n<p>16.\u00a0 He also removed Maacah, the mother of King Asa, from the position of\u00a0queen mother, because she had made a horrid image\u00a0as an Asherah, and Asa cut down her horrid image, crushed it and burned it at the brook Kidron.<\/p>\n<p>17.\u00a0 But the high places were not removed from Israel; nevertheless Asa\u2019s heart was blameless all his days.<\/p>\n<p>18.\u00a0 He brought into the house of God the dedicated things of his father and his own dedicated things: silver and gold and utensils.<\/p>\n<p>19.\u00a0 And there was no more war until the thirty-fifth year of Asa\u2019s reign.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>At what price are we willing to sacrifice to receive the Lord&#8217;s blessings?<\/p>\n<p>(New American Standard Bible: 1995 update. 1995 (2 Ch 15:1\u20137).
