You are viewing an unusual image of a relief map showing original topography of Jerusalem. It was taken in between 1934 and 1939 by Matson Photo Service.

The image shows Jerusalem.

  1. Was this photo taken of a model ?
Or through special imaging techniques made into a composite photo ?
    It looks so real !
But there doesn’t seem to be shown, many of the buildings that should have been present, even in the 1930s.
I’m very interested in the topographical shapes shown in this photo,
and wish that there was an enlargement that would include the Mount of Olives.
Is there such a photo available ?
May I post this one on my website ?

    1. Since I do not own the copyright and the owners website is no longer being published, I am not sure what you can or should do.
The bottom of the page states: “You are viewing an unusual image of a relief map showing original topography of Jerusalem. It was taken in between 1934 and 1939 by Matson Photo Service.”
In doing some research, it appears the collection may be available at this site:

    1. Sorry for the delay. I was unaware the site went down and I cannot find the photo either. From my understanding and information, http://www.middle-east-pictures.com owned the rights but gave permission with acknowledgment.
